A Kenyan family living in Houston, Texas is counting huge losses after their house was destroyed by fire in a suspected case of arson.
The house that Simon Muraya and his wife Yvonne Muraya live in along with their one-year baby girl caught fire on Saturday, November 7th around 5pm. All their belongings in the house were reduced to ashes.
The Kenyan community in Houston has come together to offer financial and any other support to Muraya’s family following the unfortunate incident.

Unless you're sure they OWNED the House, it could be they were Renting; and all they need is Financial support for Furniture, Clothes, Dishes, and other Households needs.

If they were renting, there is renter Insurance and hope they had it. If they own it and paying morgage yes that one they had have BUT it depend on the policy and it they were smart to get the best otherwise "Game On" with insurance company.
Dangerous assumptions; have you ever read the clauses of a house insurance? Even if they will be compensated by the insurance; do you understand that takes forever & they do not pay more than 80%? This family needs some money to help them get basic needs, if you do not want to give, then, STFU!

luckily we do not read of casualties . but we kenyans have become petty as if we are living in another planet and nothing can touch us .
In our culture when you are going somewhere we leave somebody in the house akuanagalie nyumba. Just wondering.

Pole kwa familia iliyo adhirika. Chanzo cha moto kinaweza kuwa kilisababishwa na mtu mwenye asili ya Afrika, Ulaya ,Asia,America kusini au hata ulaya. Uchunguzi bado huja kamilika. Hata yawezekana ni marafiki zake walio mwonea wivu ajuae ni muhusika.
Such tragedy. You never want to see this happen to anyone. If they owned the home which seems to be the case then home owners insurance will compensate them. If they were renters, then let’s hope they had renters insurance. I can assure you that most renters don’t think about renters insurance. They assume responsibility lies on the landlord.
The important thing is the family appears to be okay. Material things can be replaced.
