Kenyans living in the US have organized a fundraiser to raise money for a Kenyan teenager who is currently in custody.
19-year-old Michael Kuria is accused of an offense that could see him spend the rest of his life behind bars if found guilty, according to reports.
The Kenyan community in Washington state is seeking to raise legal fees amounting to $33,850 to ensure he gets proper legal representation.
Kuria, who recently finished high school, lives in Washington together with his 16-year-old sister who has been working to rent a place for him in case he is granted bail.
His parents live in Kenya and are unable to travel to the US to help their son, say organizers of the fundraiser.

I’d be helpful to get more details about this offense. Donors like to know the cause they are giving to. There are a lot of unanswered questions and a lot that was left out on this article. At any rate, I hope he’s innocent.
The question is did he rape or murder someone or both.
This are the only serious crimes that can make him spend the rest of his life in jail.
Also let's remember as an African he will receive a harsher sentence because of his name and because of what TRUMP has been preaching. The judges always make examples with kids like him.
Even with us contributing, let's put him in our prayers.

Of course alot of information is missing.I would chance to say it's deliberately left out,or there will be a follow-up.For example many well wishers would be hard pressed to assist a"Abad boy" .

How can we know this is not a scam? Any public record to show his charges? People do not give their hard earn money ovyo ovyo. Too many scams out there.
@John Wanjohi please verify these type of stories before posting. Especially the ones asking for financial assistance. This story has a lot of loop holes and misleading.

The problem with Kenyans in the diaspora is talking in parables! Come clean and people will be willing to help!
We don’t want to give money and then we find out it was a scam, just like we have donated money for supposedly dead people back home only to find out later it was a scam!!

This is apparently a real case. This young man is accused of molesting the child of his host family. It’s a extremely sad case. Based on the account given by his mom in Kenya, he sounds like he’s innocent. Let’s rally up and see how we can this young guy. He needs his day in court for a fair trial.
