A three-story building under construction collapsed on Thursday in Kapsabet town, Nandi County, injuring at least 40 people.
The building, located long Kapsabet-Kisumu highway came tumbling down around 1pm, falling under about 60 construction workers at the site.
Teams from the National Disaster Management Unit (NDMU), Kenya Red Cross, the police and area residents were at the scene plowing through the rubble to rescue people believed to be trapped under the collapsed building.
The cause of the building collapse has not yet been determined.
