Lamu Senator Anwar Loitiptip is demanding justice for his dad after he was shot and wounded by a police officer for allegedly failing to wear a facemask.
On Monday, May 18th, Senator Loitiptip called for speedy investigations into the incident that happened on Sunday in Laikipia County.
He claimed that his father, David Kiwaka was shot on the leg by an officer attached to Doldol Police Station and was rushed to Nanyuki Cottage.
“I am currently in Nanyuki pursuing the matter. Justice must prevail for my father. That’s why I am calling for a speedy investigation and for the officer involved to be arrested,” he told Daily Nation.
Senator Loitiptip’s fiancée Saumu Mbuvi, who is Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko’s first-born daughter, also condemned the incident through Instagram.
She wrote: “They shot my father-in-law today yet it was still daytime. Police brutality must stop. Every day we get cases of them shooting innocent citizens and nothing is been done. Its time this ends. Police brutality must and should stop we are tired! Stop taking advantage of your power to intimidate innocent citizens.”
The government ordered Kenyans to wear facemasks in public places as a way of reducing the risk of contracting or spreading the coronavirus (Covid-19) disease.

@Dr, taken my words right out of my mouth! Laikipia to Lamu? No one in Lamu is qualified enough? Is that corruption I smell in the air? However, I support him - the Police should not be shooting at anyone!
Haiya 😲 I didn't know Lamu county was in Laikipia
