British supermodel Naomi Campbell has been named Magical Kenya’s international ambassador.

Campbell, 50, agreed to become Magical Kenya’s global ambassador following her recent meeting with Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala.

Tourism and Wildlife Ministry in a statement on Tuesday said the superstar will help promote the marketing of Kenya as an ideal tourism and travel destination.

CS Balala was over the weekend pictured hanging out with Campbell who has been vacationing in Kenya since mid-December.

“We welcome the exciting news that Naomi Campbell will advocate for tourism and travel internationally for the magical Kenya brand,” said Balala.

Campbell has commended the government for improving infrastructure at the Coast including the upgrading of Malindi Airport to international standards, saying this will boost tourism in the region.

“I am also impressed with the world-class standard facilities at the Professional Golf Association (PGA) Baobab course located in Vipingo Ridge, the only golf course accredited by the PGA in the whole of Africa. I invite golf professionals globally to visit the course to enjoy the experience,” she said.

Campbell has been staying at Billionaire Resort in Malindi, Kilifi County since she arrived in the country on December 15th.

This is her third visit to the country, which comes two years after her last visit in 2018 when she was in Kenya to shoot a project for British Vogue.

Her arrival is seen as a major boost to the tourism sector, which has been devastated by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2019, Kenya received over two million tourists and earned Sh164 billion ($1.48 billion) in tourism revenues. The US topped visitor arrivals with 245,437, followed by Uganda and Tanzania at 223,010 and 193,740 respectively.

If she is going to represent us she needs to dress properly. That is no way for a 50 year old grandmother to dress. that open chest needs to be covered. It's not african.

Salary? I bet she is paid in dollars and pampered like imported Cuban docs. Two million tourists a years since 1963 is sad stats. South Africa and Moroccan receive over 10m.
