Bonchari MP John Oroo Oyioka has died after a long illness. Oyioka passed away on Monday evening at the Aga Khan Hospital in Kisumu, where he had been admitted.

He becomes the fifth legislator to die over the past three months after MPs James Lusweti (Kabuchai), Justus Murunga (Matungu), and Senators Boniface Kabaka (Machakos) and Yusuf Haji (Garissa). Senator Haji died on Monday at the Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi at the age of 80.

President Kenyatta eulogized Oyioka as an accomplished educator and a progressive grassroots leader.

“It is a pity that death has robbed us of a determined and progressive grassroots leader who used his long experience as a teacher and administrator to develop his constituents through education.”

“Hon Oyioka’s love for education is demonstrated in his setting up of a private teachers’ college to serve his community after his retirement from public service. That was a selfless leader who knew and appreciated the transformative value of empowering the youth through education,” President Kenyatta said in a message of condolence to family and friends of the deceased.

RIP...
But how comes every time someone dies, they were all great, God fearing, loved their communities...even when we all know that they were murderers, corrupt as hell?
Why don't we start telling the truth?

@ Kora Kanini:

You are right. That's why I don't attend funerals. Murderers, thieves, rapists, hypocrites, pathological liars, and lifetime con-artists are always eulogized, worshipped, and heaped with praises after they die.

When I attended funerals many years ago, men/women of cloth always assured the living ones that the departed ones are already in heaven as they continue with the funeral services. That's why I don't want to go to heaven and be with these dead criminals after I die. After all, heaven and hell are myths that were created by the European religious con-artists who lied to us so that they can steal our land and create "heaven" on earth when they are still alive. While the brainwashed Africans only go to heaven after they die.
