Over 1 Million Kenyans to Receive Sh8,000 Each in Government Aid

More than one million Kenyans are set to receive Sh8,000 each in government aid starting next week.

This comes after the government released Sh8.7 billion for the payment of beneficiaries enrolled in various cash transfer programs.

The money will be disbursed to 1,090,587 cash transfer beneficiaries from February 22nd, through the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection.

Sh2.3 billion, being payment for the period between September and December 2020, will be wired to 293,688 beneficiaries registered in the Cash Transfer for Orphans and Vulnerable Children Program.

At the same time, a total of 762,947 beneficiaries enrolled under the Older Persons Cash Transfer Program will be paid Sh6.1 billion while 33,952 beneficiaries of the Persons with Severe Disability Cash Program will get Sh271.6 million.

Each of the over one million beneficiaries will receive Sh8,000 to cover the September-December 2020 payment cycle. Recipients or caregivers can access the money at any time over the next six months.
