Central Organization of Trade Union (Cotu) secretary-general Francis Atwoli has clarified that the ‘Mzungu’ woman pictured serving his youngest wife Mary Kilobi is not his house help.
Photos of the middle-aged white lady serving drinks to Kilobi and her KTN workmate Sophia Wanuna at Atwoli’s palatial residence in Kajiado caused a stir on social media at the end of last week.
The pictures were shared by Kilobi on Instagram with a caption reading, “Yes, it’s that cold in Kajiado.”
Kenyans online concluded that the Caucasian woman was Atwoli’s housemaid. But Atwoli, through Twitter, explained that the woman is not his house help but rather “an advisor on home management.”
“Madam Pavic is not my house help as perceived, she’s an advisor on home management,” Atwoli responded to a Twitter user.
Online users refused to buy Atwoli’s explanation, saying ‘advisor on home management’ is a euphemism of house help.
@KLangat6 tweeted: “One and the same thing Omwami.”
@godfrey_mukolwe wrote: “Another improvised name for a house help? Lead as others follow, papa.”
@JohnMut96402866 noted: “Apart from house boy, maid, security, you mean you also have a house advisor? I now understand why you Uhuru advisor.”
@Swaka_Em said: “Advisor on home management is an elite name for house help. Papa Atwoli I give you fear.”
