A Nairobi court has issued an order stopping the planned burial of the late Matungu MP Justus Murunga.

The funeral was halted pending the hearing and determination of a case filed by Agnes Wangui Wambiri, who claims she had two kids with the deceased.

She accuses the late MP’s family of excluding her from the burial plans and is worried that her children will be left out of their dad’s estate.

Wangui is seeking to have her two children and herself recognized as family and be allowed to participate in funeral arrangements.

She further wants the court to order the collection of DNA samples from Murunga’s body and her kids for comparison and confirmation of their paternity.

In court documents, Wangui says she entered into a romantic relationship with Murunga in 2012, leading to the birth of the two minors aged seven and three years.

“All along the deceased intimated to me that he lived at Utawala with Ms. Christabel Murunga and thus around May 2016 he rented a house for me and our son in Ruai,” Wangui says through lawyer Danstan Omari.

The MP, she says, used to foot her monthly rent and maintenance costs through MPesa but their relationship got rocky after he won the election in 2017.

“The deceased never wanted the public nor his family to learn of the existence of these two children, and even denied me his identification card for purposes of procuring birth certificates for the children,” she says, adding that the minors are Murunga’s biological children.

“Prior to his death, I had spoken to him on November 12, 2020, checking up on him after being discharged from hospital. He sent me Sh1,300 for a gas refill and later Sh4,000 as maintenance costs.”

The court barred Murunga’s family from carrying out any funeral rites until a DNA test is conducted to ascertain the paternity of Wangui’s two kids. The matter will be heard on November 26th.

Murunga succumbed to Covid-19 while being taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Mumias last Saturday.

May he RIP and pole to his family. Men please if you have children out of wedlock don't wait for this kind of drama to unfold when you are cooling off at the morgue come out clean it will not be easy but you will have saved your family this sort of drama. Women Let's also be realistic alot can happen even on a hit and run endeavor if you was not part of the family and you never dealt with your man accordingly to be included into the nuclear family or have never gone to court to fight for your children rights when bae was alive stop harassing his family after his death. You have to live it to understand the pain and agony it causes.

@Liz Gaki Because 98% of these women are home reckers, gold diggers and karianime. All they care about is to live a lifestyle they don't deserve at the expenses of the children they sired with the deceased. Karma is coming.

Amarried man who breaks his marriage vows.Aman who hides under culture to quench his fading sexual lust.Aman who should be kind enough to help a need young lady without demanding sexual favour.Aman who comes home with asexually transmitted desease and infects his innocent wife...That's the home wrecker.

Well, if your lady doesn't perform as required another woman will. As men our demands are very easy...food, sweet talk and ofcourse KANYAU.
We will not even think twice if we're treated right.
Think about what they say' going to Mombasa is easy but hard to get out'
Let our ladies borrow a leaf from coast.
But it doesn't matter, hiding is the issue here..we can marry as many as we want as long as all PARTIES agree.
We need to fill the world anyway.
So there is room for one more if we can afford.
My grandfather had several and the ladies didn't have any beef.

If you agree to have a child with a married man and to be hidden then do not show up when the man dies. Suck it up and move on with your life. She should pay the cost of the funeral since she the one who stopped it.

She got no money to pay for a funeral! She is looking for the windfall after the guy died! It is shamefully stupid!
