Kenyans Voted Ugliest in Africa

Kenyans were last weekend voted the funniest looking people in Africa. With 48 participating nations in the Annual Most Beautiful People of Africa Awards, held at the Gregor Theater in Bloemfontein SA, Kenya took the last position, dislodging Zambia and reclaiming the title it held in 2000.
It posted 7 points out of a possible 540 points. The top position was taken by Rwanda, followed by Cameroon and then Ethiopia as second runner up. The last three positions were Kenya at 48, Zambia at 47, then Gabon, at 46. The judges said they gave their points based on presentation, physical appearance, grooming, communication and other areas.
Coincidentally this came just a week after an article on Kenyans appeared in the Pretorian Bird. The article, in the entertainment section, claims Kenya has the funniest looking president on earth, and a VP with a strange looking head. It goes on to say that Kikuyu women and Luo men pose the most weird features.
"Women from the Kikuyu community have small legs, totally no figures, and a little exeggerated heads. They lack good behinds and those who have them look like inflated baloons.They are shaped like pyramids turned upside down.A big upper frame and an almost inviscible lower bit.
Luo men on the other side have distorted facial features..say big lips and huge noses or should we call them knobs. Kikuyu men are also unproportional, and most of them are stunted. They walk leaning foward. Plus they have long rusty teeth."
"Those from Kisii Districts are small people, the average Kenyan man will stop growing at 5'2"...5'4" tops. Kisii men have mango shaped heads, and bowed legs, a feature also common in in their Luhya counterparts."
He goes on to describe Kaleos as "Funny little pitch black emaciated fellows, raking in millions from the track. However long they'll remain in Europe, their features never improve". "Nandis will have rounded foreheads, and thin, long arms". While occupants at the coast province are said to have "Wide faces, almost like a widescreen telly, especially taitas,and durumas"
"Kenyans do not know the meaning of good grooming" The writer says. "The women hate their dark skins and opt for mercury bleachs which mess them up. The result: A scary (unpigmented)light face, black legs, and a black back". As much as the Kenyan accent, of standard english is admired, "there's too much mothertounge interference, common in Merus, Kisiis, and Kikuyus".
While Luos were pointed out as to be suffering from chronic 'braggitis'. The research funded by the institute of Primate Research at the University of St. Kenkley, also noted that Kenyan men are very marketable in the Kimberely area of SA and parts of the Guateng region. Reason, they are big, hopeless spenders.
Moral lesson, "Be careful dating a Kenyan online." Accepting the Award Ambassador Kinyesi, complained of biased judging. Also present were dignitaries from all around Africa.

How damn have we become? Ugliest looking??? where does this kind of thinking come from except our colonial hangover.
Been watching too much from Hollywood and use the lens to decide who is beautiful or ugly. Sooo disappointed at the low self esteem of our people. Why not just present talent. Rememeber the beautiful ones are not yet born.

While it may be true that our physical features may not be as appealing to
the eye the very fact that people have the time and resources to conduct such
an activity is what is ugly about this whole thing. While Africa is plagued
with serious issues such as healthcare, infrastructure, education, corruption
we are focusing our energies on "who is the ugliest". Now that we have
established this fact ...what next ? Sad !

I don't agree with the poster about Kenyans being ugly, neither do I agree with the fellows saying that Kikuyu women are ugly because they are not. They may have queer shapes but they're not ugly.
However, please don't insult Kenyans by saying that Kikuyus are the most marketable women. You're living in total denial. Kikuyu women rank lowest among women to marry in this country. It's only your men who prefer you to others and that's because other woman would never touch them with a 10-foot pole. They also rank lowest among the marketable men.

So funny article. I laughed for hours when reading this..anyway, I thought Kenyans were most beautiful in the world. Funny how "beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder". I think the beholder in this article was blind..Nigerians,Ghanians, infact all Western Africa has very ugly people, you can confuse them with monkeys

You can confuse West Africans for monkeys? Really Ladybird? Then why was the first African to win the coveted Miss World title from Nigeria? And have you ever seen the beauties from Senegal, Gambia, Ivory Coast and Guinea? Don't talk what you don't know. West Africans have their fair share of beauties. While I believe this article if is useless and we are beautiful, I can tell you for sure, Nigerians are among the most beautiful people I've seen, especially the girls in my school and I live in Virginia. West Africans are beautiful I have some of them as friends. It is more shameful that they do not even care to compare themselves to us, while we go on ranting about them. they seem more confident and confidence is attractive

I wonder if people that write these articles take time to research on them. I
did a simple google search on the Institute of primate research of the
University St. Kenkley. The institute does not exist and neither does that
university. I am not Kenyan but I find this article insulting, biased and
disconnected from reality. I believe the person who wrote just hate Kenyans
and Africans in general. How else can we concieve that it is a primate
research institute that does the contest. Are we as Africans primate to have
those who deal with them determine which monkey looks better than the on the
on the continent?

Bullcrap!!!! Have you seen the pigmies of Central Africa? The ugly women of
west Africa with extended eyebrows, long plastic nails and poorly fitted wigs
and weaves..yet they still look disgusting. The only Africans worth credit
are soome South Africans, Ethopians and afew other selected characters..which
includes Kenyans And just for the record kikuyus are very pretty.....those
schoopid peoplel who voted are schoopid idle time wasters...we know

I laughed so hard when i read this- but my mum saw it and just
blew...Seriously though, Kenyans are beautiful people and not just because of
our diversified culture or great land, but purely on a physical standpoint.

It obviously depends, and it's all subjective. One can say that the Luhya's
are more interesting, others will say, no the Maasai. But one thing seems
sure: the Kenyans seem to be obsessed with race, ethnicity and skin colour.

Check out the Habesha women (google if you have to) and see who your competitors are... it is also not right to disagree with such an article by insulting others. you are no different from the people who wrote such. as for kyuk women being most sort after... i needed the laugh. thanx. we have so many tribes and races here... it is sad how we are always reduced to ten tribes.... makes no sense.
As for the article...look around more and judge your environment as a foreigner... i believe people are different and should be respected as such. we have had problems in this country because some believe themselves to be superior to others just because they have had an advantage over others since independence. guys...there are more important things to concentrate on...

Why should we check out the Habesha women to see what you perceive are our "competitors"? Is this a topic about Kenyan women? No! It says "Kenyans voted ugliest", not "Kenyan women voted ugliset". It includes the men too. But if you prefer to go that "Kenyan women vs. Ethiopian women" route, I'd also suggest to you to check out Ivorian men and see who your "competitors" are.

Sally, whatever personal issues you have with Kikuyu women should not cloud your judgement. Kikuyu women do have their fair share of pretty faces. They do not have sexy bodies, but they are pretty. They don't have personalities to die for either, but they have nice passport pictures. They cannot wear swim suits without prompting outbursts from by-standers, but they make up for that by having nice faces (am talking about the ones who are lucky enough to escape the Brown-Stained-Teeth-Syndrome).

Leave Sally alone, she has a right to her opinion. Just because she doesn't find Kyuks beautiful doesn't mean she's jealous and that a man left her for one. Though I think Kyuk girls are pretty, I know several people who actually don't find Kikuyus to be beautiful in any way. Are they jealous as well?

killed he said, you people make money of our people but you do not want to
marry our women. I was shocked for I love mandela but he was telling the
truth, Somali from Kenya did not want to marry South Africans, But calling
KIKUYU and you are from South Africa, That is absolutely wrong. I also blame
KIkuyu men who behave like dogs they seem to run after anything with a hole,

Freedom of speech is very much promoted and cherished in a democratic world. However to make such ludicrous arguments about the beautiful Kenyan people is wrong to say the least and an abuse of this basic freedom. The so called research is heavily subjective and biased, a complete distortion of the facts. The different people of Kenya have their unique features and that what makes them beautiful and highly admirable to the rest of the world ( You dont need to go far- Just look at Barack Obama:POTUS). The views held above are simply cheap and have no place in modern society. All a reader can do is JUST IGNORE THEM. The Kikuyu women and Luo men, the Kisii and Meru people and all the rest of Kenya; you are all good in your own special ways
