Two Kenyans Admitted to Hospital after a Car Accident in Delaware

Printer-friendly versionPDF version

Two Kenyans, DJ Babu of TakeOver DJs and Kaka - DC, a leading event promoter in the Washington, DC area, are admitted in serious condition at Christina Hospital Trauma Center in Delaware after they were involved in an auto accident yesterday afternoon in Delaware.

According to one of Kaka’s relative who spoke to Mwakilishi.com, the two were traveling in their car headed back to Washington, DC when a luggage they were carrying on top of their car got loose. They pulled their car on the highway’s shoulder to fix the luggage. As they were getting back to their car, another car traveling on the highway suddenly lost control and veered off the highway, hitting both of them and also smashing their car. They were both seriously injured and rushed by paramedics to Christina Hospital Trauma Center.

Kaka is admitted in critical condition at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). DJ Babu has been moved from the ICU but is still scheduled to undergo a few more surgeries.

***** UPDATE (07.19.2012) *****

Babu and Kaka are now both stable but treatment continues. They will be undergoing more surgeries for broken limbs. Doctors want no visitation till next week except for family members, since they both need to rest.

For any inquiries, call Hannibal at (202) 351-1618 or Wachira at (781) 929-9065.

***** UPDATE (07.20.2012) *****

Both Kaka and Babu are currently undergoing surgery. Doctors are still asking for no visitation till further notice. Their families appreciate your continued prayers.

***** UPDATE (07.27.2012) *****

Families Need Help – By DJ Fully Focus (Longtime friend & business partner to DJ Babu & Kaka of the TakeOverDJs entertainment crew)

The near fatal accident left both Babu and Kaka in the E.R. with broken bones, Babu (broken leg & shoulder) Kaka (broken leg, collar bone & ribs) not to mention trauma. Since then they both have undergone successful surgeries but both are still in the hospital (Christina Hospital Trauma Center in Delaware) though Kaka is still in the ICU as he suffered more severe impact. Help their families raise money during recovery.

All of the contributions given will help with whatever expenses their families might need to sustain them throughout their stay in the hospital and during their recovery. Our goal is $10,000 as we want to be able to provide enough money for both Babu & Kaka and their families so they won’t have to worry about bills during this difficult time. Babu's sisters & mother (who reside in New Jersey) & Kaka's wife (residing in Maryland) have taken time off work since the incident took place to travel & be with their loved ones. The duration for recovery is said to be 3 - 6 months (which also means no work/events/income during this time).

We want to be able to insure that their families will be available to be with them during this difficult time and not have to worry about lack of funds. Should we not reach our goal of $10,000, that’s ok because anything helps at this point! Please help by making a donation at http://www.indiegogo.com/p/185688.

Please share and help spread the word by all means.

***** UPDATE (08.03.2012) *****

DJ Babu left the hospital today and will continue recovering at home. Kaka has been moved from the ICU to a general ward at Christina Hospital in Delaware. He is doing much better and is eating soft foods. Visitation to him is still limited.

Both still face a long recovery period ahead.
