Video: Kenyan Pastor in Miracles Saga Threatens Journalists

A pastor who allegedly paid people to give false testimonies on Sunday criticised the media for “interfering with God’s work.”

Apostle Michael Njoroge of the Fire Gospel ministries refused to address the media but used his pulpit to criticise them.

He sought to clear his name by asking worshippers who had come to give testimonies and to be prayed for to make it clear that they had not been paid to do so.

“Have we met before? Did I pay you to come and give this testimony?” Apostle Njoroge asked some of the worshippers.

They all confessed that they had not been paid to do so.

Efforts to speak to the congregation bore no fruits as they also refused to speak to the media.

Two days ago, NTV aired a story about a young woman by the name of Ms Esther Mwende, who claimed to have been paid Sh2,000 to give false testimony of how her mouth had become deformed.

Ms Mwende had covered her mouth with a cloth and was weeping bitterly as she was being questioned by the pastor about her situation.

The pastor claimed to pray for her, saying she was being punished for talking ill of a man of God.

The following Sunday, she went back to the church and testified that she had been healed and her mouth was no longer deformed.

The service went on as usual with the congregation actively responding with an “amen” to almost every word he said.

He prayed for a few people some of whom claimed to have come there for the first time yet he knew their names and what was allegedly ailing them.

Prayer for illness

Apostle Njoroge also said he had power to pray for those who tarnished his name to be ill; he was praying for a young boy, who had a swollen leg.

“I can pray for this illness to befall those who are trying to taint my name, or their children” Apostle Njoroge said.

NTV reporter Mohamed Ali was trying to mount a microphone on the pulpit when he was told off by the pastor.

“We Christians have respect for church services” the pastor said.

Police officers were guarding the church as the service went on.
