London-based Erick “The Eagle” Ochieng is the current English Light Middleweight champion. The 25-year-old Ochieng was born in Kenya but grew in Stoke Newington, London. He joined professional boxing in 2009 and has so far won 10 matches and lost 1.
He first won the English Light Middleweight title in January of this year and successfully defended it in May. He will be defending it for the second time on September 8 at Alexandra Palace in London against Ryan Toms in a match that will air live on Sky Sports. Ochieng hopes this will be his last fight before stepping up for the Commonwealth title.
He comes from a strong sporting family, among them his father and mother - Charles Ochieng and Barbara Adhiambo, having played for the Kenya national handball teams.
