She has been nicknamed the hands of stone, she ranks 5th in the world and was the first African woman to win an international boxing bout. But now all that amounts to nothing, Conjestina Achieng is a pale shadow of the lady who boxed her way to glory in the ring. She lives in poverty and is losing her mind slowly and steadily.
In an exclusive interview with Kiss TV's News at Eight, Conjestina illustrated just how the fall from grace can dehumanize.
This is a very sad story. Boxing like we all know is a dangerous sport of which its players need constant medical care and attention. The fact that such an important sports figure is living in utter destitution is even sader. I pray that she receives the medical attention she needs right now because who knows, she might even be able to make a come back at some future date.
