Jim Kagwanja Munene, a 37-year-old resident of Sierra Vista, Arizona and a native of Kenya, was on Tuesday last week arrested on kidnapping and sexual assault charges by Cochise County Sheriff’s Office.

Munene turned himself in at the Sheriff’s Office, five days after the Superior Court issued a warrant for his arrest. The warrant stems from an investigation by the Sierra Vista Police Department into a sexual assault reported at Veterans’ Memorial Park in January.

"During the course of the investigation, Sierra Vista Police detectives were able to establish sufficient probable cause to secure a Grand Jury indictment," Cpl. Scott Borgstadt, SVPD public information officer, said in a statement .

Munene posted a $50,000 bond and was released shortly after his arrest.
