The official Vice President residence is finally complete. The Sh 400 million property is built on a 10 acre piece of land in Karen. It comprises of several houses including two 3 bedroom maisonettes for the house keeper and the deputy. There are also houses for security officers and the rest of the staff.

This is the second residence constructed for Kenya's Vice President, after the first one was converted into personal property by former president Moi. The following are some pictures of this new mega structure.

What a waste? A modest residence would serve the purpose. We..our children, and our children's children will pay for this through the nose.... and you tell me slavery is over?

If i am to be the vice president, my personal conviction and ethical standards will not allow me to set foot on this building while watching my fellow Kenyans who footed it's construction bill and will continue to pay for it's future maintenance & recurring bills languish in poverty!!!

Kenyan govt priorities just puzzles me!

A govt without priorities. IDPs are living in deplorable conditions in the makeshift camps without food on their table, children learning under trees, no roads, strikes left, right and centre, insecurity.. one wonders who advises this government.

It cost 400m to build, how much will it cost to run it per month? So long as we keep electing non-visionary selfish leaders, the impunity will never end. How about the IDPs, and the hunger we face every once in so often, and the underpaid doctors, nurses, teachers, police etc who provide us with the most basic services for pennies, not to forget our mps huge pay bill which they keep increasing? Immoral and disgusting. Were we supposed to applaud???

Since the VP's last home was converted into personal property by former president Moi, is there a chance that these leaders build these homes knowing too well the govt. cannot maintain them, then it ends up being some ex-govt. officials personal property???

i really get disappointed with the adviser of the Kenyan government.use the money to resettle the internally displaced persons instead of diverting money to self defeating and sustainles jobs like this one. shame, a big shame.
