After over 2 years of renovation, the newly refurbished Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani will be officially handed over to the Sports stadia management board. The refurbishment of the stadium started in August 2010 and the chines company tore apart the main stadium, before replacing the running track, as well as the sitting stands and the state of the art VIP section. The project also included the renovation of the gymnasium and the dormitories.
According to the deal, the refurbishment was fully funded by a grant from the Chinese government. Since its completion in April, the stadium has already hosted an international match between Kenya and Togo as well as a number of athletics events.
