It is with humble acceptance of God's will that we announce the passing away of our dear sister, daughter, wife, mother and friend Catherine Kimatu Okoth. Cathy passed away on Monday, Sept 17th 2012 after a long battle with Cancer. She was wife to Christopher Okoth, mother to 2yr. old Eli Christopher Okoth, daughter to Mr. & Mrs. Simon and Veronica Maweu Kimatu of Haledon NJ.
She was sister to Don Bosco Kimatu Maweu; Derrick Kimatu Maweu; Kenneth Kimatu Maweu; Philomena Sampson, Charles Maweu and Jennifer Musyoka. She was daughter in law to Mr. & Mrs. Robert and Sarah Okoth of Kaswanga village, Rusinga Island; sister in law to Linda Were, Atlanta GA; Jill Okoth, Baltimore MD; Vincent Okoth, Johannesburg, South Africa; Valerie Okoth, Wichita KS; Marissa Maweu, Payallup WA, Shamir Sampson, NJ and Anyes Maweu of Kenya. Grand-daughter to Pius and Monica Kimatu of Kilungu District, Kenya and a niece to Fr. Raphael Muthoka in Kenya, Angela Mumo, David and Syokwaa Mulumba. Cathy was also an aunty, cousin and friend to many far and wide.
Friends and family are meeting daily for prayers and support at Cathy and Chris’ home located at 411 Aldwych Dr, Bear, DE 19701 starting at 7pm and also at her parents home at 55 Ida St, Haledon NJ 07508.
Wake: A Wake for Cathy will be held on Sunday, September 30, 2012 from 3pm to 6pm at Strano & Freeley Family Funeral Home located at 635 Churchmans Road, Newark, Delaware 19702.
Viwewing, Funeral Mass & Burial: Viewing of the body will take place on Monday, October 1st, 2012 from 10am to 12 noon at St Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish located at 345 Bear Christiana Rd, Bear, Delaware 19701 followed by a Funeral Mass at 12 noon at the same venue. Burial will follow at 2pm at Vets Memorial Cemetery.
The family was left with a large hospital bill, and we call upon our family and friends to help us meet these costs.
