You are invited to participate in a tree-planting session to honor the life of the late Prof Wangari Maathai, Africa's first female Nobel Prize winner. The tree planting event will take place on Saturday, September 29, 2012 from 9am to 12pm at Wangari Gardens (located between Kenyon St, Irving St and Park Pl, NW).
The event is hosted by the Kenya Embassy in Washington, DC, Wangari Gardens, Casey Trees and the SAIS Africa Diaspora Association (ADA).

About Wangari Gardens
Wangari Gardens in a garden park on a 2.7 acre space of land in Washington, DC that we recently opened with a mission inspired by the legacy that Pro Wangari Maathai left behind. The park includes a community garden, a playground, a fruit tree orchard, a butterfly/sensory garden, a walking/wheelchair trail, a rail garden, an outdoor classroom, and a dog park.
