President Mwai Kibaki’s daughter has been appointed a member of the Brand Kenya board for a period of three years.

In a gazette notice dated 5th October 2012, Ms Judy Kibaki has been appointed to serve on the board with effect from 24th July 2012. Information Minister Samuel Poghisio has also gazetted Christopher Diaz as a member of the Brand Kenya board.

Brand Kenya is one of the recently created state corporations whose mandate is to ensure an integrated national brand is created, harnessed and sustained in the long term.

It was formed to coordinate initiatives for marketing the country in order to maximize their efficiency and create and maintain the Kenyan brand to identify and distinguish Kenyan products, services and concepts.

Other than Brand Kenya, Ms Kibaki is also a member of the Export Promotion Council board.

Chairman of the Media Council of Kenya Dr Levi Obonyo has also been appointed member of the Communications Appeals Tribunal for a period of three years, with effect from 4th September 2012.

Other appointments as contained in the latest issue of the Kenya gazette include John Katiki, who has been appointed a member of the Board of Directors at Postal Corporation of Kenya.

At the same time, Poghisio revoked the appointment of A. Mumbo Abio Gunda as a member of the Kenya Film Classification Board.

Housing Minister Soita Shitanda has revoked the appointment of Bosire Ogero who was chairman National Housing Corporation. He has been replaced with Isaac Mogaka.

Bosire and a number of senior managers are mentioned in a scandal that saw the allocation of more than five NHC housing units to individuals including senior government officials. The minister also appointed Reginald Okumu as an NHC board member.

Meanwhile Shitanda has appointed Peter Wachira Njuguna as the Managing Director of NHC replacing James Ruitha who was suspended three months ago.
