Kenya presidential candidates’ debates, which had earlier been scheduled to begin later this month, have been re-scheduled to start in January, 2013.

In a press statement, Royal Media Services’ Wachira Wauru, who is the chairman of the joint steering committee organizing the debates, said the debates were re-scheduled after comprehensive consultations, as the media refined logistics for the debates.

This is the first time Kenyans will get to watch/listen live and engage as presidential aspirants debate their platforms for the March, 2013 general elections. A total of three debates will be held, and will all be broadcast live on TV, radio and online. “The debates will provide Kenyan voters with the opportunity to listen, interrogate and interact with the presidential candidates. They will also afford the candidates the opportunity to reach out to the widest possible audience and explain how they would govern if elected president,” Mr Waruru said.
