Raila: It'll Be a Shame to be Recieved by Mike Sonko at the Airport

National Super Alliance (NASA) flag bearer Raila Odinga has called on Nairobi residents to vote for Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) candidates in Nairobi.

Speaking on as he took his campaigns to Nairobi’s Dagoretti North and Westlands constituencies, the former Prime Minister endorsed ODM candidate for Nairobi governor Evans Kidero, while dismissing Jubilee’s Mike Sonko.

Raila termed Sonko as unfit for the seat, telling his supporters to re-elect Kidero, as it would be a shame to be received by Sonko at the airport when he jets back in the country from foreign trips if elected as the president in the upcoming polls.

“I don’t want to be a President of Kenya who goes out for a meeting and on returning, it is Jubilee’s Mike Sonko that is receiving me at the airport. It will be a shame.” Raila said.

Raila assured his supporters that they have put up measures to ensure that Jubilee will not rig the August elections, urging them to turn out in large numbers and vote for him.

Kidero faces a big challenge from Sonko, who is believed to have a huge following in the city, after garnering over 800,000 votes in the 2013 general elections to clinch the senate seat. Kidero won the gubernatorial seat with slightly over 500,000 votes.

Other candidates in the race include former Gatanga Member of Parliament Peter Kenneth, and former Raila Odinga adviser Miguna Miguna, both contesting as independent candidates.
