Raila Links Kenya Defense Forces in New Elections Rigging Claims

The National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate, Raila Odinga has alleged new plot where the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) is training personnel that will aid the rigging of the August 8 poll in favor of President Uhuru.

The Orange Democratic Movement leader on Tuesday said that military officers have embarked on training of Administration Police officers (APs), Regional Coordinators and County Commissioners, who according to him will be deployed in the opposition strongholds tohelp influence the electoral results in favor of Jubilee.

According to the former Prime Minister, a series of meetings involving the Commanders of both the Armed Forces and Air Force, the Commandant of the National Defense College, Director General of National Intelligence Service (NIS) and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (CID) were held in different hotels to scheme how to manipulate elections results in the upcoming polls.

“We are challenging the national government and the security bodies to explain to us, Kenyans, why they are training civilians in an exercise that is currently going on in Embakasi Barracks. We also urge the military to stick to their values of protecting our country from external enemies and seize from being involved in matters 2017 general elections,” said Odinga.

“Since the High Court ruled in April that presidential election results declared at the constituency is final, Jubilee has turned to using Intelligence and security officers to influence the august elections. We, NASA, have information that more than 120 military officers are currently hosted at the defunct provincial offices in Kakamega County so as they will be recruited by IEBC as polling officials in the ongoing recruitment process,” added Mr. Odinga.
