Deputy President William Ruto has laughed off NASA’s plans to legalize illicit brew if the coalition is elected in the August 8 polls.

Ruto says the move announced by National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate Raila Odinga would be an impediment to the war against alcoholism and drug abuse, which has ruined lives of many young people in the country.

“We already have a serious problem with alcoholism and drug abuse. It will be a step in the wrong direction to legalize Chang’aa and busaa,” Ruto said.

Speaking while attending a church service at the Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA) Ol Kalou in Nyandarua County on Sunday, the Deputy President called on religious leaders to help the government fight Alcoholism and drug abuse menace.

“Let’s join forces in dealing with this menace. Pray for the Opposition which intends to legalize illicit brew to have a change of heart over this matter,” added the Deputy President.

The deputy president further called on religious leaders to continue praying for peace in the country as we head to the general elections and urged leaders to maintain peace during their campaigns,

“I urge you to continue praying for our country to hold peaceful elections and let the will of the people prevail.”
