Raila Alleges Plan to Print Excess Ballot Papers

John Wanjohi Jul 04, 2017

National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate Raila Odinga claims that there is scheme by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to print excess ballot papers to rig the August 8th general elections against his favor.

The former Prime Minister said that two million extra votes were cast in the 2013 general election, citing it as the reason why the opposition outfit was opposed to ballot printing of the August 8 polls by the Dubai based firm, Al Ghurair.

“We now know the truth. Everybody knows what they did in 2013 concerning printing of ballot papers. That’s why they want this company to print extra ballot papers,” Raila Odinga said.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader was speaking when he received a delegation of leaders from Kiambu County who ditched Jubilee for NASA.

Raila expressed confidence that he will trounce President Uhuru Kenyatta in the August contest, hitting out at the president for calling on Kalonzo to ditch NASA for Jubilee.

“NASA represent the face of Kenya. This country is going to face a social economic revolution. We are in a process of transforming our country. We want to tell our opponents that change is coming. Jubilee can’t win. We are going to talk about issues affecting Kenyans. We will tell them we have solutions,” said Raila.

“August 8 will mark the beginning of the change we as NASA intend to bring to the country,” said Raila Odinga.

Odinga accused Jubilee of insisting on having Al Ghurair awarded the ballot printing contract because it belonged to their friends. “The company will print extra ballot papers,” he added.
