National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate Raila Odinga has questioned the manner in which President Uhuru Kenyatta replaced the fallen Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery following his sudden demise.

While conveying his condolences message, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga wondered why President Uhuru opted to replace the fallen hero in a press briefing that was supposed to send condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

“I am quite shocked that the President had to replace Nkaissery in a press briefing that was meant to condole with the family,” he said.

Odinga added: “This is quite shameful because we are mourning and then someone makes a serious pronouncement.”

President Uhuru named Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang ’i to succeed Nkaissery at the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of Government on an acting capacity during the presser.

President Uhuru Kenyatta pouched the outspoken Cabinet Secretary; Nkaissery from Odinga’s led Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party, who sponsored him for Kajiado Central Parliamentary seat.

Nkaissery replaced sacked Joseph Ole Lenku who failed to deliver in the Interior Ministry. Nkaissery inherited a troubled Ministry at a time the county was facing increased attacks by Somalia based terror group, Al Shabaab. He will be remembered for returning security in order.

Nkaissery, 67 died on Saturday morning at Karen Hospital in Nairobi hospital, moments after reportedly complaining of chest pain.
