Kalonzo: Raila Will be a One-Term President
National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential running mate Kalonzo Musyoka has once again assured his supporters that NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga will rule for one term once elected in the August 8 polls, after which he will hand over to him.
In what is seen as a move to convince his supporters rally behind Raila Odinga's candidature, who might have felt shortchanged after NASA failed to name Kalonzo as the 2017 election flag bearer following the 2013 deal with Raila (that Kalonzo will be the coalition’s presidential candidate), Kalonzo assured that no other candidate in the coalition would compete with him in the 2022 presidential race.
"Na ndeumuvitha Raila Odinga eikalila kivila myaka itano na nituandikaniite uu wazi, ti ila ingi kweeawa uu syavie syaunguie. Oyu kuandikitwe nesa Raila atetheesye Kenya kusonga mbee, na 2022 ni Kalonzo wa Musyoka vate undu ungi," Kalonzo said in Kamba.
(Without hiding anything from you, Raila Odinga will occupy the seat (presidency) for five years and we have agreed... in writing, not like the previous arrangement which was neither here nor there. Now it is clearly agreed that Raila will help Kenya transit to the next level and in 2022 it will be Kalonzo Musyoka and no other story).
The former Vice President expressed confidence that the Opposition was headed for a clear victory against Jubilee.
"We are urging our supporters to be extremely alert and keep vigil at the polling centers because we have information that Jubilee has been scheming to threaten voters from certain communities residing in major cities," Kalonzo said, adding that every Kenyan has the right to vote.
