John Wanjohi Jul 15, 2017

Nairobi County Executive Benard Muia says that thirty three cholera victims have been treated in various health facilities in the city. Muia further said that in the last two months, 96 cholera related cases were confirmed in Nairobi, with three fatalities being reported so far.

Three top government officials and several staff drawn from Trade and the Treasury ministries were admitted in different health facilities in the city for cholera-related symptoms on Friday.

The officials are said to have taken meals and drinks served during a trade conference at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC) in Nairobi.

Cabinet Secretary for National Treasury Henry Rotich, Trade counterpart Adan Mohammed and Trade Principal Secretary Chris Kiptoo were affected by contaminated food at the conference.

Muia said the County will close down all unlicensed open cooking places in Nairobi.
