We'll Throw Out White Ranchers from Laikipia if Raila Becomes President, MP Says

John Wanjohi Jul 22, 2017

Laikipia North MP Mathew Lempurkel has sensationally said that all white ranchers in Laikipia county will be driven out of Kenya if National Super Alliance (NASA) Presidential candidate Raila Odinga becomes the President after the August 8th elections.

The ODM MP said that one of the National Super Alliance (NASA) government's agenda will be to reclaim all land held by foreigners and give it back to locals.

"When Raila takes this leadership we will make sure all wazungus go to their homes," Lempurkel said.

He noted that one white man had approached him and asked him to take away his land as he no longer needed it, but he asked him to wait until Raila becomes the president.

"He told me, "Lempurkel come and take this land because I no longer need it" and I told him "just wait until Raila takes the presidency," the controversial legislator stated.

In what could be seen as inciting sentiments, Lempurkel asked residents to fight for their land from the whites, who own large chunks of land in form of ranches in Laikipia. He termed the Jubilee administration as “animals" and castigated residents supporting Jubilee.

"The son of Lempurkel does not fear anybody and any man that drinks the milk of Jubilee is nothing but useless," he stated.

The MP was arrested in March this year on accusations of incitement to locals to invade ranches of foreigners in the county.

Laikipia white ranches have in the past few months witnessed a series of violent attacks by herders. One British rancher Tristan Voorspuy was killed while a renowned Italian author Kuki Gallman was left with serious gunshot wounds after attacks on her farm.
