Uhuru: Raila to Blame for Kenya's Stagnation

President Uhuru Kenyatta says that National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate Raila Odinga is to blame for the country’s stagnation.

Addressing supporters at a campaign trail in Nyeri on Tuesday, the Head of State accused the former Prime Minister of being very stubborn during former President Mwai Kibaki’s government, which cost the country a lot in terms of development.

“I respect the opposition leader but you understand that if it were not for his stubbornness during the coalition government, the country would be very far,” said President Kenyatta.

“If Kibaki was allowed to work after 2007, the country would have undergone serious changes. We wasted the five years that Raila was in government.”

“Please, on August 8th do not allow me to share power with him (Raila). He does not have an agenda for the country,” added the President.

“For four years we have had a peaceful government. We have built infrastructure, nearly every home has electricity. Do you want me to spend my time responding to Raila or commissioning projects? I cannot debate with someone who does not have an agenda for this country.”

This comes after the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader accused President Uhuru of rushing to complete projects, when he had over four years to do that.

“Uhuru is rushing to initiate development projects which cannot be completed at this point in time,” said Raila.

Uhuru and Raila face each other in next month’s presidential contest.
