NGO Started by Kenyan Professionals in the US Gives Back to Kenya, Organizes a Medical Mission Trip
In a bid to give back to their parent country, a group of Kenyan professionals living in the United States came together to form an non-profit organization, Innovative Technologies Advancement & Research Campus (ITARC), that promotes health well-being and organizes medical missions in various parts of Kenya.
ITARC, registered as a 510(c)(3) non-profit in the US, aims to be an educational and organizational system that enables communities to work together to identify and address their own physical, social, intellectual and spiritual challenges especially to communities living in slums in Kenyan urban area such as Nairobi, Kisumu, Mombasa and Nakuru.
“One of our key non-profit strategies is to teach communities to take responsibility in addressing their own needs,” the NGO says. “ITARC strives to create efficacy in communities worldwide by providing medical aid and resources towards poverty alleviation”
"Provision of food, clothes, education, surgeries, medical services and love to our communities are some of services ITARC offers to communities," says Dr Nelly Kangethe, ITARC's CEO, and Co-chairman and Health Director.
The NGO says that it plans to build infrastructure such as medical facilities as well as improve living conditions including sanitation infrastructure and in the future.
