President Uhuru Leads Raila in New Ipsos Poll
President Uhuru Kenyatta is the most popular presidential candidate if elections were to be held today,latest opinion poll by IPSOS Synovate released on Tuesday shows.
The survey indicate that Uhuru would garner 47 percent of the total votes cast ahead of his fiercest rival opposition National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate, Raila Odinga, who has 44 percent approval.
NASA boasts of 45% approval rating countrywide against Jubilee’s 41%.
5 percent of the voters still remain undecided on whom to vote while 3% refused to answer, with only six days to August 8th elections.
Raila leads Uhuru in Nairobi, Coast, North Eastern, Nyanza, Western, Lower Eastern, and pastoralists’ Rift areas whereas Uhuru is more popular in Central, Upper Eastern, and Central Rift regions.
“This was a household based survey. We had a sample size of 4,308 respondents,” said Tom Wolf.
“We insisted on confirming which polling stations the respondents were registered,” he added.
The survey was carried out between July 3 and 12.
The IPSOS poll comes barely hours after another pollster, Infotrack, ODM's Raila ahead of Uhuru at 49 percent approval rating against Uhuru’s 48 percent.
