IEBC Denies Raila's Hacking Claims

John Wanjohi Aug 09, 2017

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chief Executive Officer Ezra Chiloba has refuted claims by National Super Alliance (NASA) that the electoral commission's system was hacked.

Speaking during IEBC's 8:30pm media briefing, Chiloba made an assurance to Kenyans and the world that their systems are secure and that the allegations made by NASA presidential candidate, Raila Odinga were baseless.

NASA, led by presidential candidate Raila Odinga, in a press briefing on Wednesday claimed that someone had accessed the IEBC portal to manipulate results to President Uhuru Kenyatta's advantage.

Raila presented a document evidence indicating how an unnamed person entred IEBC's portal and manipulated results.

Raila rejected the results that continue to trickle at the national tallying centre at the Bomas of Kenya, terming them fictious and a fraud.

”Our systems are secure,” Chiloba said.

He said that the commission had by 1pm received and uploaded to their portal all of the 29,000 forms 34A presented to them from the constituencies.

The CEO further revealed that as of 6. 45 pm, 77% of the polling stations across the country had sent in the presidential results.
