Raila: Jubilee's Majority in Parliament Artificial

John Wanjohi Sep 02, 2017

Opposition Chief Raila Odinga has dismissed President Uhuru's Jubilee Party majority in both the National Assembly and the Senate, saying that Jubilee rigged in gubernatorial, senatorial, parliamentary and MCA levels in addition to the Presidency.

Speaking in a press briefing at the Okoa Kenya offices in Lavington, the former Prime Minister further accused the Electoral Commission (IEBC) of defying court orders and refused to grant NASA Read-Only Access to its servers.

He said that the servers could have proven clearly who won the August 8th election.

“This rot was not only on the presidential elections but the whole contested seats. The so-called Jubilee majority in parliament is artificial. If IEBC could obey the court orders and allow full access to election servers, we could not be repeating polls because we, NASA, won,” said Odinga.

Raila blasted the United States, European Union and United Kingdom for supporting democracy in Kenya and implementation of the new constitution, only to backtrack and accept what he terms as ‘computer-generated leaders’.

“It is unfortunate that the U.S. supported multi-party democracy in Kenya, but backtracked and supported Mr. Kibaki in 2007 despite full indications that elections were stolen,” added Raila.

The ODM Party leader lauded the Supreme Court Judges for issuing a ruling he says “defines Kenya’s resilient democracy and for showing that courts can make an informed and independent decision.”

The Supreme Court in its ruling on Friday declared the election of President Uhuru as invalid, null and void and ordered a fresh election be held within 60 days.

“Presidential election was not conducted in accordance with the Constitution. The results are null and void,” the Supreme Court ruled on Friday.
