Retired President Daniel Moi Celebrates 93rd Birthday
Kenyans took to social media to wish retired President Daniel Arap Moi well as he celebrates his 93rd birthday on Saturday.
A majority on users sent goodwill messages to the retired head of state and wished him good health and a longer life.
Moi ruled Kenya for 24 years and handed over to President Mwai Kibaki in 2002. He remains Kenya's longest serving president.
Moi took over from Kenya's first President Mzee Komo Kenyatta following his death in 1978.
He has mentored several leaders including current President Uhuru Kenyatta, his Deputy William Ruto, and opposition leaders Kalonzo Musyoka and Musalia Mudavadi among other past and present Kenyan leaders.
Mzee Moi enjoys retirement at his rural Kabarak home in Nakuru County amid reports of failing health.
