John Wanjohi Sep 06, 2017

Residents in Mombasa were on Wednesday morning treated to a rare spectacle when two suspected car robbers undressed and begun dancing and throwing themselves in the mud.

Suspected to be the victims of some ‘evil spell’ in the form of black magic by the owner of the car, the duo stripped naked and began bathing in a pool of mud.

Minutes later, they began dancing around the car with a snake coiled around the neck of one of the two, as though it were a scarf.

Crowds gathered around the vehicle to feed their eyes with the rare performance, with one of the two climbing on top of the vehicle, covered in mud, to address the crowd before they were taken in by police.

The two are believed to have stolen a Nissan Fuga and were drove it towards Bamburi Mtambo from Bamburi Mwisho.

Later, they mysteriously stop the car and parked outside a clinic, got out, undressed and started bathing in a nearby pool of muddy water.

"They were saying it was so hot and they needed a bath," said an eyewitness.

The incident caused a massive traffic snarl-up as onlookers milled around to catch glimpse of the two.

Such incidences where witchcraft is used to capture thieves are common in Mombasa and other parts of the country.
