IEBC Servers Were Not Hacked, French Technology Firm OT-morpho Says

A French digital security firm that that managed the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) servers has rubbished claims that the system was hacked.

In a statement through its Africa and Middle East director Olivier Charlanes, OT-Morpho denied that the system used in the nullified August 8th election was infiltrated by external individuals.

Speaking on Thursday, Charlanes told Bloomberg that the company provided all data for analysis by the Supreme Court.

He furthers said that the same technology systems used in the Kenyan election have been tried and used in other countries.

"The system used in Kenya wasn't pirated. We've passed on all the logs to be analysed by experts commissioned by the Supreme Court."

This comes a week after opposition National Super Alliance presidential candidate Raila Odinga successfully challenged the announcement of President Uhuru Kenyatta as winner of last month's election.

In its ruling, the Supreme Court declared Uhuru's win as invalid null and void citing irregularities and illegalities and ordered a fresh poll be conducted within 60 days.

Charlanes said the company is awaiting the written judgment of the Kenya Supreme Court ruling.

Opposition coalition Nasa has called for investigations to the companies that managed IEBC systems during the August 8th election.

"We wish to bring to your attention that in providing the said ICT support services to the Commission, the subject companies have been involved in unethical acts that may amount to criminal activities under Electoral Act and the Elections Offenses Act," read part of the letter from Nasa to IEBC Chair.
