Martha Karua Files Urgent Petition Seeking Nullification of Entire August 8th Elections

Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua has filed an urgent petition at the High Court seeking to have the entire August 8 general election nullified.

In a petition filed under certificate of urgency at the High Court in Kerugoya, the former Justice Minister argues that the presidential election was conducted alongside five others, and should also be nullified just like the presidential one.

Karua also argues that all lower courts are bound by the the Supreme Court verdict, which found irregularities and illegalities in the presidential election.

In the case filed by her lawyer Gitobu Imanyara, Karua urged the court to refer the matter to Chief Justice David Maraga so he can form a three-bench judge to hear her application.

She further argues that it is a waste of time to hear the main application she filed in court because the apex court findings are binding to all other seats.

The application will be heard on September 18.

The Supreme Court early this month annulled President Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election following a successful petition by him main rival Raila Odinga. It ordered IEBC to hold a fresh elections within 60 days.

Karua last week filed another petition to challenge the victory of Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru. Waiguru was declared the winner of the seat after defeating Karua.
