Kenyan Woman Buys Sh400,000 Newspaper Space to Praise Raila
A Kenyan woman has surprised many after buying Sh400,000 space on a local daily to praise and thank National Super Alliance presidential candidate Raila Odinga.
The woman, who identified herself only as Lilian paid for a half page space in Thursday's Daily Nation to express her pride on what the former Prime Minister has achieved and stands for.
"You were mocked and ridiculed...but the truth vindicated you. Thank you for being our voice. Do not tire...we see you. We are with you." She says in the notice.
Her note is in reference to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader's refusal to accept defeat to President Uhuru Kenyatta after the August 8th general election.
Raila then filed a petition at the Supreme Court to challenge Uhuru's victory and the apex court declared the election as invalid, null and void and ordered a fresh be held within 60 days.
Lilian added "You are already our winner. Thank you for restoring the dignity of the poorest in Kenya and restoring my dignity as a Kenyan."
She further thanks the Opposition chief for the new constitution, devolution and exposing corruption and injustices in Kenya.
"Thank you for being our voice," she notes in the newspaper notice.
Raila is credited for the fight for freedom of expression Kenyans enjoy today, fighting for Multi-party democracy as well as unearthing corruption scandals in recent years, including allegations that Sh5.2 billion and Sh1.78 billion went missing from the Health Ministry and National Youth Service respectively.
