Deputy President William Ruto Attacks Raila in a Tweet

Deputy President William Ruto has taken it to Twitter to lash out at National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate Raila Odinga over his renewed onslaught on the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

In a tweet, DP Ruto wondered when the Orange Democratic Movement leader will accept that he lost the election a stop "blackmailing Kenyans."

“For how long will one man, unable to win elections, continue to blackmail 45m Kenyans using threats of violence, chaos, bloodshed and anarchy,” read Ruto’s tweet.

The DP defended the the electoral commission, saying the body is protected by the Constitution. Ruto added that no one should threaten the IEBC commissioners in any way or form.

“Every kenyan,those at IEBC included have the protection of the Constitution. Nobody,however mighty ,should threaten them in any way or form,” stated Ruto.

In a press briefing earlier in the day, Raila accused Ruto of being behind the squabbles that have befallen the election following the nullified presidential election.

The former Prime Minister wondered why Kenyans would have faith in IEBC as currently constituted to conduct another poll.

Speaking during a press briefing at Panari Hotel, Raila claimed that the IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba colluded with Mr Ruto to bungle last month's poll.

"Why should Kenya trust these institutions? Is it because the IEBC went to a retreat and buried their hatchet? Is it because Safran gave itself a clean of bill? Is it because IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba answered the Chebukati memo and gave it to DP William Ruto?" asked Raila.

Raila further accused French Firm, Safran Morpho which provided IT services of engaging in scheme with IEBC officials to manipulate the August 8th.
