Martha Karua Takes Swipe at Supreme Court Judge Njoki Ndung'u Over Her Judgement

NARC Kenya leader Martha Karua has castigated Supreme Court Judge Justice Njoki Ndung'u over her dissenting judgement on the nullified August 8th election.

The former Justice and Constitutional affairs Minister took issue with Njoki's dissenting judgement which she read alongside her colleagues at the court on Wednesday.

While reading her minority judgement, Njoki appeared to criticise the decision by four of her colleagues to annul President Uhuru's win as she accused them of failing to look at the evidence tabled by the respondents in the petition filed by the opposition NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga and his running mate Kalonzo Musyoka.

In her over 400-page judgement, Justice Njoki ruled that the nullified election was held within the law and her colleagues were wrong to overturn it on technicalities.

However, Karua took to Twitter to express her disappointment with Njoki's judgement that bashed her colleagues.

Karua believes that Njoki erred in bashing Chief Justice David Maraga, Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu and Justices Smokin Wanjala and Isaac Lenaola who ruled in favor of overturning President Uhuru's win.

The former Gichugu MP said Njoki should have focused on her judgement, not attacking her peers

"A dissenting judgment ought not be a trial of fellow judges but a treatise on why one holds a different view- differing with respect," she Tweeted.

Karua also appeared to hit out at Uhuru and Raila when she said one cannot choose what to agree or disagree on. President Uhuru has maintained that the judges executed a supreme coup on the will of Kenyans.

"One cannot choose what part of judgment/ruling to accept and what not to accept - must accept all," Karua added.

Karua unsuccessfully contested for Kirinyaga gubernatorial seat but lost Jubilee's Anne Waiguru. Karua has filed a petition challenging Waiguru's win citing irregularities. She also wants the entire August 8th elections overturned.
