Kenyan Chief Justice David Maraga on Monday made a public appearance since the reading of detailed Presidential petition on the nullification of President Uhuru's August 8th victory, when he attended the opening of the Commonwealth Magistrates and Judges Conference being held in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania.

When time for his introduction reached, Maraga was received with loud cheers from participants in delight of his presence at the conference, following his landmark, historic ruling that was first of its kind in the African Continent. A section of participants further went ahead to give him a standing ovation.

Tanzania Chief Justice Ibrahim Juma gave a special mention of the Kenyan President od the Judiciary and commended his efforts of safeguarding the Constitution.

"We are deeply honoured by your presence - Hon Chief Justice Maraga," said Judge Juma.

However, Justice Maraga refused to give an interview to journalists, opting to maintain a low-profile during the event.

Maraga and four other apex court judges-Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu, Smokin Wanjala and Isaac Lenaola declared invalid, null and void the reelection of President Uhuru on grounds that the electoral commission committed illegalities and irregularities in conducting the poll. They ordered a fresh poll be held within 60 days.

Members of the Jubilee Party have, however, accused Maraga and his team of robbing President Uhuru Kenyatta of clear victory.
