NASA Tells Off Foreign Envoys Over Threat to Impose Travel Ban on Politicians

Siaya senator James Orengo says that National Super Alliance will not give in to blackmail by foreign envoys to halt their anti-IEBC demos.

Speaking on Tuesday, the senator said that their protests will continue as planned.

"We are not going to be blackmailed. We are not very enthusiastic about going to the united States of America. The diplomats have overstepped its mandate, our sovereignty cannot be surrendered to anyone," he said.

"We are taken aback by utterances by the diplomatic community. They too have issues from their mother countries to deal with. America also has its own problems."

In a joint statement on Monday, US ambassador to Kenya Robert Godec, speaking on behalf of foreign envoys, warned that travel ban would be imposed on politicians out to derail the repeat presidential election. The diplomats warned Nasa and Jubilee to allow IEBC carry out its mandate without inteference.

Orengo was speaking after a meeting with IEBC at Bomas of Kenya, where Presidential candidate Raila Odinga had been invited for talks. He indicated that the meeting did not bear fruits.

"None of the issues we raised as irreducible minimums have been met or responded to so we left without agreeing," he said.

"We will meet two commissioners later in the day for a way forward."
