Raila Travels to the UK after Cancelling Coast Tour
National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate Raila Odinga is set to travel to the United Kingdom (UK) after canceling campaign rallies in the coastal region this weekend.
Raila's spokesman Dennis Onyango said that the opposition leader would be jetting out of the country to the UK, where he is scheduled tp deliver a public lecture, even as the October 26th election nears.
“He is travelling to the UK,” Mr Onyango said.
“He is supposed to deliver a public lecture at Chatham House, The Royal Institute of International Affairs in the UK,” he added.
The opposition alliance was expected to address a series of rallies at the Coast this weekend, but the tour was cancelled in the last minute after local leaders complained of being left out in preparing the rallies.
NASA leader Raila Odinga and his running mate Kalonzo Musyoka were to address roadside campaign rallies at Akamba Handicraft, Bangladesh and Tudor on Saturday, before heading to Frere Town for a mega rally.
On Sunday, the opposition was supposed to address supporters in Likoni and Kombani before ending the tour with a major rally in Ukunda.
The move by Nasa leader to travel out of the country, and the cancellation of rallies further puts into questions the preparedness of the opposition outfit for the repeat poll, considering that their rival, President Uhuru and his deputy has hit the ground running as far as campaigning for their bid is concerned.
