Raila Denied Visa to the US, Dennis Itumbi Claims
State House director of digital communications Dennis Itumbi alleges that opposition chief Raila Odinga has been denied entry to the US.
In a post on his Facebook page, Itumbi claimed that the former Prime Minister had planned to travel to US for a 10 – day tour before the October 26th repeat election, which he withdrew from on Tuesday.
“Raila has been denied entry to USA and he had planned to go for around 10 days in New York. He was denied Visa,” Itumbi wrote.
Speaking in a media briefing at Okoa Kenya on Monday, Raila said that he voluntarily opted not to attend a public lecture in the US, where he had been invited, and preferred to attend one in the UK.
“It will be just a day event and people should not be worried about that. I will attend and later on come back,” he stated ahead of his tour to Chatham in UK.
On Tuesday, Raila and his running mate Kalonzo Musyoka formally bowed out of the repeat presidential race citing the lack of commitment by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to conduct a free and fair election.
