Retired President Daniel Moi Calls for Peace as He Votes

Retired President Daniel Moi joined other Kenyans in casting ballot in Thursday's repeat presidential election. The former President cast his vote at Kabarak University polling station in Rongai constituency, Nakuru county.

Speaking to the media after casting his ballot, the former head of state called on Kenyans to maintain peace. "I urge Kenyans to be peaceful in order to prosper as a country," he said.

He added: "Peace is paramount for any development to take place."

Kabarak University presiding officer Jimmy Maison said the voting exercise in the area went on smoothly with no hiccups. "We received materials on time. There have been no hiccups," he said.

Others who voted in the fresh poll include President Uhuru Kenyatta, Deputy President William Ruto, Chief Justice David Maraga and acting Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i.
