Furious NASA MP Disrupts Jubilee's Live Media Briefing at Panafric Hotel over 'Tea Bill' Comments
A live press briefing called by Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen at Panafric Hotel in Nairobi was on Thursday evening halted after Mathare Member of Parliament Anthony Oluoch attacked the senator.
A few minutes into the media briefing, the seemingly furious ODM MP arrived and took away microphones from the stands, disrupting the briefing that was live on TV. The opposition MP is said to have been angered by the Senate Majority leader's remarks that he was going to buy tea for the Nasa MPs who happened to be in the premises of the city hotel.
Murkomen had also referred Raila as "National Rebel Movement" leader and before he concluded the presser, an Oluoch arrived an scuttled everything. "You cannot come here and tell people on national TV that you will pay our bills ... we paid for this venue ... we are MPs ... how can you pay our bills?" he asked.
Oluoch yelled at Murkomen telling him that has no right brand Raila names. "You can't come and call Raila names on a ground that I have paid. This is wrong...Kwani Kenya ni yake...," he said.
Oluoch snatched all microphones Murkomen was using. He was flanked by Nairobi senator Johnstone Sakaja.
Kibra MP Kenneth Okoth, who accompanied Oluoch, claimed that Jubilee was desperate to capture power. "What we have seen here is the desperation of Jubilee. To Senator Murkomen, shame on him. He has insinuated that only Luos heeded to Raila boycott calls."
However, Murkomen and his Nairobi counterpart Johnson Sakaja proceeded with the presser and accused NASA of displaying sideshows. "What we are seeing here is really unnecessary... they want us to respond even to jokes from our brother," Sakaja said.
Reports indicate Oluoch has been hospitalized after he received a beating from Jubilee MPs bodyguards.
