IEBC to Blame for Chaos in Nairobi and Kisumu, Mudavadi Says on BBC

National Super Alliance (NASA) says that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is to blame for the chaos witnessed in Kisumu and Nairobi.

Speaking during an interview with British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), NASA principal Musalia Mudavadi accused the electoral commission of forcing an election [repeat presidential poll] on Kenyans, saying it was the reason for the violence in Lakeside city of Kisumu and Kawangware estate in Nairobi.

“You cannot have police all over the place and tell people to go and vote. That is intimidation,” he told BBC in an interview.

Mudavadi wondered how IEBC would proceed with an election when its chairperson Wafula Chebukati confessed the commission could not guarantee a credible election.

“This is double speak because the IEBC itself told us that it cannot hold a credible election. The commission itself has created a crisis.”

In a press briefing on Friday evening, Mudavadi said that votes garnered by President Uhuru during Thursday's repeat presidential election confirmed that he had not won in cancelled August 8th election.

“The citizens have finally opened the servers that the IEBC refused to open. The boycott has shown that the so-called numbers and percentages that Jubilee and Uhuru Kenyatta have been talking about were all along fraudulent,” Mudavadi said.

“Uhuru lost the August election and has again lost this sham one in which he was basically running against himself,” he said.
