Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairman Wafula Chebukati has defended the October 26th repeat presidential election, describing it as above-board.
Speaking during a media briefing at the national tallying center located at the Bomas of Kenya on Sunday, Chebukati said the commission was satisfied with the way it conducted the election.
“As a commission we are confident the process being done in a free, fair and transparent manner,’ a confident Chebukati said.
Chebukati also sought to clarify the 6,553,858 voter turnout he announced on October 26th via his Twitter, saying the figure was as by 4 pm on Thursday and that the Commission got more results thereafter.
Chebukati said the total voter turnout as of Saturday 5 pm stood at 42.8 percent, representing 7,573,903 as captured by the KIEMs gadgets.
