Raila Travels to the US

Opposition leader Raila Odinga on Tuesday evening traveled to the United States.

The National Super Alliance (NASA) leader left the country Nairobi at around 4pm Kenyan time and is expected to land in Washington, DC where he will meet different leaders and address a public forum at the Centre for Security and International Studies (CSIS).

The former Prime Minister is also set to hold a series of meetings with House and Senate Congressional Committee leaders on Wednesday.

After delivering a speech at the CSIS on Thursday, Raila will hold talks with officials of civil society groups. His Spokesman, Dennis Onyango said he will deliver a speech on "Overcoming Kenya’s Political Crisis and Advancing Democracy, Rule of Law and Stability."

"Raila is scheduled to return to Nairobi over the weekend," Onyango said.

He will also explain to different US officials on why he pulled out of October 26th repeat presidential race, his next steps and his opinion on the future of democracy in Kenya.
